Belgian MXGP (Lommel – Preview)

The infamous Stedelijk Motocrossterrain circuit in Lommel will host the 14th round of the MXGP World Championship.

MXGP of Belgium (Lommel Preview)

This will be the 24th Grand Prix held here since 1990, not counting the two historic Nations Grand Prix events in 1981 and 2012, at what has now become one of the most frequently used test circuits in the European heartland of the sport. Many teams are based nearby, with some even having their workshops literally right up against the circuit’s perimeter fencing. Jeffrey Herlings is the most successful rider at Lommel with four GP victories and is hoping to overtake Jorge Prado this weekend. He has reclaimed the overall lead with the Honda HRC Petronas after securing his seventh GP victory of the season last weekend at Loket, and appears to be in excellent form with a 49-point lead over Lucas Coenen, whose fitness for his home GP – which he won last year – is currently in doubt.
