This weekend the action moves to Germany for the seventh round of the World Championship.

The MXGP World Championship is hanging in the balance between the two riders who battled for overall victory here last year. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team leads the way with its young prodigy Lucas Coenen, but holds just a two-point advantage over Honda HRC Petronas newcomer Jeffrey Herlings, who overtook him in Race 2 last year right here, claiming the GP victory. Reigning World Champion Romain Febvre, of the Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP, has climbed to third in the standings, having claimed his only victory right here in 2015, his first season as champion. For the second consecutive year, Simon Längenfelder wears the MX2 Class Red Plate at his home GP, and this time he sports the number 1 of the reigning world champion. His team-mate, Sacha Coenen, is still chasing him in the standings, now eight points adrift after neither of them made the podium in the last race in France. Guillem Farres claimed his first Grand Prix victory at Lacapelle Marival, halving the gap to Längenfelder.
