The Dutchman has signed a contract with Team Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki and will compete on a Kawasaki KX450 in the MX1 class of the Australian ProMX Championship.

Rick Elzinga heads to Australia: deal with Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki

After spending many years racing on European tracks and competing in the MXGP World Championship, Elzinga has decided to take on a completely new challenge. With the Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki team, he will have the opportunity to compete against the best Australian riders. Although the main focus in 2027 will be the Australian ProMX Championship, Elzinga has also signed an option to compete in supercross. This means that taking part in the Australian Supercross Championship is a real possibility. To prepare as well as possible for his new adventure, Elzinga will be travelling to the United States this winter. He will be training in both motocross and supercross to ensure he is ready to hit the ground running at the start of the new season. Below are the rider’s comments.

“I can’t wait to get this adventure underway! Of course, moving all the way to Australia to race is a big step, but I’m confident that the team and the people around me will make sure I feel at home straight away. I’ve already been to Australia twice and really enjoyed both visits. My aim is to fight for the podium and for victory. It’s difficult to compare myself to the other riders because I’ve never raced against many of them. However, I’m confident I can be among the frontrunners and give the more established names a run for their money.”
