Mike Brown: the career of an American motocross legend

Mike Brown has built one of the longest and most versatile careers in American motorcycling. After turning professional in 1989, the Tennessee native raced in both the United States and Europe, finishing third in the 125cc Motocross World Championship in both 1999 and 2000, before returning home to win the AMA 125 National Motocross Championship in 2001. Brown also finished runner-up three times in the 125 East Supercross standings and racked up eight victories in AMA Pro Motocross, as well as four wins in the 125 Supercross series during his career. He subsequently moved into off-road racing, where he won the WORCS championship in 2009 and became the oldest athlete to win a gold medal at the X Games, claiming victory in Enduro X in 2012 at the age of 40. Brown continued to compete in EnduroCross, GNCC, ISDE and SuperEnduro well beyond the age at which most riders retire, becoming known as one of the sport’s most tenacious and long-serving competitors.
