Jeffrey Herlings and Camden McLellan were the stars of this Grand Prix.
Jeffrey Herlings claimed victory at the Chinese Grand Prix, setting the fastest times in all free practice sessions and winning both the qualifying heat and the first and second races. In the second race, Herlings ran side-by-side with Tom Vialle at the first corner before taking the lead. Romain Febvre finished in second place; the Frenchman was hot on Herlings’ heels in the closing stages, maintaining a gap of around 1.1 seconds until he made a mistake on the final lap. Third place went to Tom Vialle. Calvin Vlaanderen put in an excellent performance, finishing fourth ahead of Pauls Jonass. The podium was completed by Jeffrey Herlings (1-1), Romain Febvre (2-2) and Tom Vialle (3-3).
Guillem Farres won the second race in China in the 250cc class, managing to hold off his team-mate Camden Mc Lellan. Behind the two Triumph riders, Liam Everts crossed the line in third place. Janis Reisulis finished fourth, whilst Kay Karssemakers secured an excellent fifth place. The overall victory in China went to Camden Mc Lellan (1-2) ahead of Guillem Farres (4-1) and Liam Everts (3-3), with Simon Langenfelder in fourth place and Janis Reisulis in fifth. Guillem Farres now heads to Australia with a 48-point lead over Camden Mc Lellan. This means the Spaniard could secure the World Title as early as Saturday’s qualifying heat.
