Lucas Coenen doubles his lead in the MXGP World Championship thanks to a 1-1-1 result in Latvia, securing his second consecutive victory and his fourth of 2026. Sacha Coenen matched his brother’s results and also extended his lead at the top of the MX2 standings. The Belgian now boasts two wins and five podium finishes this season. The brothers dominated both their qualifying heats on Saturday for the third time this season, but today they dominated both in their respective classes. On Saturday, Lucas overtook Jeffrey Herlings to win the MXGP qualifying race convincingly for the third time this year, replicating Sacha’s triumph in MX2 less than an hour earlier. Today, two 30-minute, two-lap races for each category took place under clear skies. Lucas raced smoothly and relatively unchallenged in both heats, securing his fourth one-two finish (1-1) in 2026 and taking his tally of wins to 10 out of 16.
