Ducati confirms Joey Savatgy: he will line up for the 2027 SMX World Championship

Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing has confirmed that with this signing, its team is now complete, meaning there will be no further announcements before the first round of Supercross on 9 January. The long-rumoured Ducati 250SMX programme was postponed by a year around June, allowing the relatively young manufacturer to focus exclusively on the success of the 450SMX. Below are the rider’s comments.

“I’m thrilled about this change and honoured by this opportunity. I’ve had a great season and the fact that a factory team has taken notice of me and reached out is very rewarding. Given that the last few years haven’t been the best for me, I think we’ve shown a lot this year and proved that, with the right team around me, we’re capable of achieving good results. Returning to a factory team is exciting, and I think the resources at our disposal are a huge advantage. There are many doors we can open, things we can experiment with and opportunities to find what works best. I can’t wait to get started, to have a proper winter boot camp, so to speak, and to get to know all the team members. It’s going to be a great season.”
