Jett Lawrence and Cole Davies triumph at Unadilla: victories in the 9th round of the National.

Hunter Lawrence took the lead in the first race, briefly lost the lead to Haiden Deegan, before fighting his way back to first place and starting to extend his lead. Behind him, Jorge Prado and Jett Lawrence overtook Deegan during the race. Jett launched a decisive attack on Prado, taking second place before the chequered flag and securing the heat victory for Hunter ahead of Jett, Prado and Deegan. In the second heat, Hunter also started in the lead, but this time Jett and Prado stayed right on his heels. Both managed to overtake him, setting up a three-way battle for the lead. Hunter crashed heavily on the descent down Unadilla’s imposing hill, rolling down the slope. He managed to get back on his bike, but it was too badly damaged to continue and he was awarded 39th place. Jett held on to lead, securing the race win and the overall title with a 2-1 score, whilst Prado’s 3-2 results earned him second place overall and Deegan’s 4-3 secured third. Jett now leads the 450 Championship with 402 points to Hunter’s 392.

In the 250 class, Levi Kitchen got off to a flying start in the first race. Cole Davies took the lead immediately after Casey Cochran’s crash, but Kitchen gradually made up ground, eventually managing to overtake him. Chance Hymas also joined the battle for the lead, before a minor crash cost him valuable positions. Kitchen continued to pull away, taking the first race ahead of Davies and Carson Mumford, whilst Hymas fought his way back up to fourth place and Ryder DiFrancesco finished fifth. The second race completely turned the tables. Kitchen and Julien Beaumer were pushed off the track at the start, leaving Kitchen around 37th position, whilst Davies took the lead. Davies never looked back, claiming the heat victory, with Hymas second and DiFrancesco third. Kitchen staged one of the most spectacular comebacks of the day, fighting his way back up to sixth place. Davies’s 2-1 scores earned him overall victory at Unadilla, whilst Kitchen, with a score of 1-6, finished second and Hymas, with a 4-2, took third place. Kitchen leaves Unadilla with a one-point lead over Davies in the championship, 334 to 333.
