His team-mate, Camden McLellan, finished an incredible season in second place, securing Triumph the prestigious FIM MX2 Motocross Manufacturers’ World Championship title.
Just three years after the launch of the TF 250-X and its debut in motocross, Triumph has clinched the MX2 World Championship, the Manufacturers’ Championship and the team title, whilst also securing a one-two finish in the championship. This historic moment crowns an exceptional year in MX2, with Farres and McLellan winning 11 of the 19 Grand Prix races contested. The Triumph duo secured a total of 21 race wins and 26 podium finishes, including eight one-two finishes and four 1-2 finishes aboard the Triumph TF 250-X. Thanks to this result, the Triumph Factory Racing team has secured the FIM MX2 Motocross World Manufacturers’ Championship title for the first time in its history. It is also the first time since 1965 that a British manufacturer has won a Motocross World Title. Below are the comments from the two riders.
“It’s been an incredible weekend here in Australia and a fantastic season. We wrapped up the championship in the first race, with Camden winning and me finishing second – an incredible feeling. All in all, it’s been an incredible season and certainly one I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I love being with the team; we work hard and I’m absolutely delighted to have won this championship because we were really motivated to do so. It’s a great feeling – obviously I went through a tough time in America, so in a way this is a sort of redemption. When you’re going through a tough time, so many things go through your mind, including the idea of stepping away from the sport, but we kept going. After deciding to return to Europe, Vince and Thierry were the first to welcome me back and they’ve always believed in me. The progress we’ve made with Triumph has been incredible. I’ve fought to get to the front, to get results, and now here we are. It’s even more special to do it on a Triumph, especially given what it means to them too and what we’ve all achieved together in such a short time. I’m absolutely delighted and grateful to everyone close to me, and a huge thank you to them, the team and my family. Triumph and the whole team have done an extraordinary job throughout the year. It hasn’t always been easy, but we’ve managed to make the best of every situation, and I’m really happy and proud of what we’ve achieved together.”
“It’s been a good season. First of all, we had an excellent winter break; we made good progress with the bike and the programme. We worked hard and right from the start we were exactly where we needed to be. Unfortunately, after a few races I picked up a minor injury, but after the break we came back strong and I managed to secure one podium finish after another, showing plenty of pace and consistency, which I’m extremely proud of. Sadly, I didn’t manage to win the world championship, but Guillem was the best rider this year, so congratulations to him. Overall, I think it’s been a great season. I’m proud of the whole team. They deserve this victory and they deserve the championship. Securing first and second place in the championship for Triumph and winning the manufacturers’ championship demonstrates the hard work put in by everyone. It’s been an incredible year for Triumph, so a huge thank you to everyone who was part of it.”
