Jeffrey Herlings claims his sixth MXGP World Championship title and writes a new chapter in history

Jeffrey Herlings, rider for the Honda HRC PETRONAS team, has clinched the 2026 MXGP World Championship following an incredible run of results that saw the Dutchman secure the title with two races to spare. It is his sixth world title, his third in the MXGP class, but his first in his debut season riding the Honda CRF450RW. Having joined the team on 1 January this year, number 84 has worked hard to achieve this milestone and, thanks also to the constant commitment of the entire Honda HRC PETRONAS team, this championship is a testament to ‘The Bullet’s’ abilities. Together, the pair have racked up a total of 10 GP victories, bringing Herlings’ tally to 122 – 61 across the MX2 and MXGP classes – and with two rounds remaining, there is the chance to add to these figures further. Ahead of the race in Turkey, he also boasted the most qualifying wins (7), the most GP wins (16) and the most podium finishes (13), and had won the last 14 races – an incredible run of results that turned a 68-point deficit into a championship victory in just six rounds.
