The Australian, together with his team, has decided to sit out the entire SMX series to allow his ankle to recover fully and avoid taking unnecessary risks, with his long-term career in mind.

Lawrence has had to contend with persistent ankle problems throughout the Pro Motocross season. Although he continued to race throughout the summer, he stated that his ankle hadn’t felt right since the start of the season. After the final race at Ironman Raceway, the symptoms actually worsened. His focus is now entirely on recovery. Lawrence wants to be certain he is completely pain-free before resuming preparations for the 2027 season. Below are the rider’s comments.

“I pushed through the whole summer and did everything I could, but my ankle hadn’t felt right since the start of the season, and after Ironman it actually got worse.
