Jeffrey Herlings won the second race of the MXGP of France at Lacapelle-Marival. The race was initially halted with a red flag following Tom Vialle’s crash at the first corner during the first start. Fortunately, the Frenchman managed to walk away unharmed, but he was not permitted to take part in the restart. Just as the engines had been restarted for the restart, the riders were suddenly ordered to switch them off again and Tim Gajser was disqualified from the starting gate. The Slovenian had switched bikes after his own was damaged in the crash with Vialle, but returned to the grid too late. When the race finally got underway, Jeffrey Herlings immediately took the lead and, despite pressure from Lucas Coenen, never relinquished it. Behind Herlings and Coenen, reigning world champion Romain Febvre finished third, ahead of Maxime Renaux and Kay de Wolf. Calvin Vlaanderen finished the race in 15th place. Among the Belgian riders, Jago Geerts took 13th place, whilst Brent Van Doninck finished 17th. In the MXGP World Championship standings, Jeffrey Herlings has reduced the gap to Lucas Coenen to just two points following this weekend.

Guillem Farrés also claimed victory in the second MX2 race in France. Jānis Martins Reišulis led for much of the race but dropped several places in the closing stages, finishing in fifth place. Behind Farrés, his team-mate Camden McLellan finished second, ahead of Mathis Valin, Liam Everts and Jānis Martins Reišulis. Gyan Doensen finished 15th once again, whilst Kay Karssemakers and Scott Smulders did not start the race. Among the Belgian riders, Lucas Coenen finished in sixth place, whilst Douwe van Mechgelen narrowly missed out on the points, finishing in 21st place. In the Championship standings, Simon Längenfelder remains in the lead with 281 points, ahead of Sacha Coenen on 273 and Guillem Farrés on 261 points.
