Farres will be aiming to secure the MX2 title for the British manufacturer.
The Spaniard looked at ease on the technical track right from the first session and maintained that pace throughout the weekend. After showing impressive pace in every outing, Farres gave his all at the crucial moment on Sunday, securing a one-two finish in both races and thus clinching his first overall GP victory in emphatic fashion. The second race proved particularly memorable, featuring a thrilling wheel-to-wheel battle with team-mate Camden McLellan for the win, with Farres ultimately managing to hold his position under pressure, rounding off a perfect weekend. Below are the rider’s comments.
“This weekend we proved we have the pace. I led for several laps in each race. We had a lot of fun with the team during the break. I’m really excited to be back racing and I had a bit of time to think about a few things during the break. I get bored living on my own in Belgium, so I listened to a few podcasts. It’s quite funny, because they’re probably people who’ve never ridden a motorbike, and they talk about it a lot. They keep saying that my teammate and I aren’t competitive, and that made me a bit angry, but in a good way. I just want to get back out there, do my job and prove them wrong. I think my team-mate and I have shown we’ve won races this year and we’ve had a few problems – I had a retirement at Almonte – but we’re right up there, close to the leaders. In the last two rounds I’ve made up a lot of points on the leaders. I’m happy and we just need to keep going like this, and everything will be fine.”
