No Portuguese GP for De Wolf.

MXGP: Kay De Wolf will not take part in the Portuguese GP following the injury he sustained at the Italian GP

Following further medical assessments, it has been decided that the Dutch rider must focus on his recovery before returning to competition. Consequently, De Wolf will not compete in the upcoming rounds of the FIM Motocross World Championship, whilst the team will continue to monitor his progress. The injury brings to a halt what was shaping up to be an encouraging debut season in MXGP for the 21-year-old, who currently sits in the top five of the standings and recently secured his second podium finish of the season in Latvia. Further updates regarding his return to racing will be announced in due course. Below are the rider’s comments.

Kay De Wolf:

“It’s obviously a huge disappointment because the crash was completely beyond my control, especially as we’d built up some good momentum in the last few races. Now the aim is to make a full recovery and ensure everything heals properly. We still need to carry out some checks and get some rest. After that, I want to keep improving and put myself in a position to fight for the podium at Lommel. I’ll do everything I can to get back in shape, healthy and ready to race.”
