MXGP: Mathis Valin signs a multi-year deal with Kawasaki in MX2

The young French rider has signed a multi-year contract to continue riding for KRT in the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship. During his debut season in the MX2 World Championship, Mathis gained valuable experience and, together with the Kawasaki Racing Team staff, confirmed his potential, approaching the new KX250 project with great motivation. Finishing tenth in the final standings, with his first career podium at Loket in the Czech Republic, the 2024 European Champion has made further giant strides this season, confirming that, at just nineteen years of age (he turns twenty on 18 August), he is one of motocross’s brightest prospects. The 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship gets into full swing next weekend in Portugal; Mathis has already won one Grand Prix overall, two qualifying races and one GP heat this year, having recovered from a shoulder injury at the start of the season. Signing the new contract so early in the season is irrefutable proof of his confidence in the KX250 project and his determination to continue this fruitful partnership with Kawasaki. With his future secured, there is no doubt that this will give him further momentum for the rest of the championship and allow him to focus entirely on racing. After nine GPs, he currently sits sixth in the standings, just twenty-one points off the bronze medal. Below are the rider’s comments.

“I’m very happy to have re-signed with Kawasaki; now we’ll carry on together because everyone is doing a great job. We’ll keep working hard for the second half of the season and, of course, for next year; let’s hope it’s even better! The start of the season was quite difficult because of my injury, but now we’re on the right track and everyone’s happy, so I’m very pleased to be staying in the same environment.”
