MXoN 2026: Honda and Yamaha take centre stage with electric motocross demonstrations at Ernée

Both demonstrations will take place in front of the season’s largest crowd, at the legendary Ernée venue, with the best riders in the paddock. This makes the Motocross of Nations a truly special venue to showcase these exceptional developments. Having the two projects race side by side is a symbolic initiative that reflects the collaboration between Honda and Yamaha. Honda will field the CR ELECTRIC PROTO, ridden by Trey Canard and Justin Brayton. Canard was the first Honda rider to compete in an electric motocross race in 2023 in the All Japan Motocross Championship. Brayton boasts extensive experience gained through years of racing in the AMA Supercross. The CR ELECTRIC PROTO has already proven its worth in competition: it competed in the 2024 FIM E-Xplorer World Cup with Team HRC. In its first season in the series, the Honda team won the men’s championship and finished second in both the women’s and team championships. Yamaha Motor will showcase the YE-01 Racing Concept and put it through its paces on the track at Ernée. The bike was unveiled for the first time at EICMA in Milan last year. Bringing it to the Motocross of Nations offers it a level of visibility that few events can match. It will be ridden by 2004 MX2 World Champion and 2007 AMA Supercross 250cc East Champion Ben Townley, and by 2011 MX3 World Championship runner-up and three-time winner of the Enduropale du Touquet, Milko Potisek. The YE-01 Racing Concept represents Yamaha’s approach to making fun the primary objective of carbon neutrality. It combines the chassis technology of the YZ450F – the result of decades of racing experience – with Electric Motion’s power unit. The aim is to retain the intrinsic appeal of motocross whilst offering a new kind of riding pleasure that harnesses the specific characteristics of electric propulsion.
