Chase Sexton’s season is over due to a knee injury.
Medical tests carried out following last week’s crash have revealed that the American rider has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), an injury that will require surgery. The injury represents yet another serious setback for the Monster Energy Kawasaki Factory Racing rider, who has already faced a difficult season. Despite the disappointment, Sexton is trying to look on the bright side. The American intends to spend the coming months with his family and friends, something that is often difficult during a normal competitive season. Below are the rider’s comments.
“Last night I received the news that I’d torn my anterior cruciate ligament in last week’s crash and that I’ll need surgery. After all the difficulties I’ve faced this year, it felt like a punch in the stomach. I won’t lie, it hurts just writing this.”
