In the 250SMX class, Levi Kitchen claimed overall victory.
The first race of the 450SMX class provided a special moment right from the start. Jorge Prado got off to a strong start, but Deegan overtook him in the early stages of the race. The American immediately found his feet on the muddy track and, once he had taken the lead, quickly built up a considerable advantage. Deegan never faced any serious problems and claimed his first race win on a 450. Ken Roczen crossed the line in second place, whilst Prado secured vital points with third place. For Hunter Lawrence, the race turned out to be a disaster. The Australian crashed several times and eventually finished in 21st place, two laps behind the winner.
The 250SMX class also provided plenty of thrills. Cole Davies took the holeshot in the first race and looked set for a commanding victory in the mud. The New Zealander built up a lead of around 20 seconds and had even worked his way through much of the field, but unfortunately had to retire due to technical problems with his bike. Daxton Bennick made the most of the opportunity and claimed the win, with Levi Kitchen finishing second. Jo Shimoda had a difficult race following a poor start and a crash, eventually finishing in 12th place. Julien Beaumer crashed on the first lap and had to settle for 16th place. Behind them, the battle for the key positions continued right up to the final stages. Kitchen overtook Bennick at the start of the final lap. That manoeuvre proved decisive for the overall standings: Kitchen won the first race of the SMX play-offs in the 250SMX class, whilst Bennick finished second.
