Official: Kawasaki and Romain Febvre to part ways at the end of the season

After seven seasons of fruitful collaboration, Romain Febvre and the Kawasaki Racing Team will bring their partnership to a close at the end of the 2026 season. With an impressive haul of podium finishes already secured in 2026, Romain and the team are set to end their partnership on a high note following the upcoming rounds of the FIM Motocross World Championship. Since joining Kawasaki in 2020, Romain has achieved extraordinary results, winning the gold medal in the MXGP World Championship in 2025 and two silver medals in 2021 and 2023. Having won thirteen rounds and twenty-eight races in the MXGP Championship, he claimed his fifty-fifth podium finish in Kawasaki colours at the recent British Grand Prix aboard the factory KX450-SR. Kawasaki would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the French rider for his outstanding partnership, one of the longest ever between the company and a rider. Below are the comments from Team Manager Antti Pyrhonen.

Romain Febvre:

“In a few months’ time, the moment will come for me to part ways with Kawasaki after so many seasons in green and, of course, so many memories, so many good results and so many successes together. A significant part of my career will forever be linked to Kawasaki; we’ve been together for seven years, which is a long time in a rider’s career. We achieved our ultimate goal, which was the world title last year, after battling for the title in 2021 – my first season with Kawasaki – and in 2023. I’ve always had fantastic people around me since I signed with Kawasaki. We developed a new bike in 2023 and missed out on the title by just a few points. Unfortunately, I suffered an injury in 2024, but in the end we clinched the title. This year we’re fighting for podium places again; obviously, the aim is to win another GP against strong rivals, but we’re here and my motivation remains the same: to race to the very best of my ability! I want to thank everyone who has worked with me from day one: the former KRT team led by Thierry Chizat Suzzoni and the new KRT team with Antti Pyrhonen, and of course Japan, which has placed its trust in me and always welcomed me with a positive attitude. Next year I’ll be starting another chapter in my career; I’ll be taking on another challenge, and that’s what I need at my age to give my all. But the season isn’t over yet, and right up until the very last race I’ll obviously be giving it my all.”

A huge commitment from Romain, Kawasaki and the whole KRT team, which ultimately culminated in the MXGP World Championship title.
