The changes will introduce a new operating model for the Yamaha Factory Racing MXGP team and bring Yamaha’s official involvement in the MX2 class to an end.

Yamaha Motor Europe reorganises its MXGP programme: a strategic shift announced

The reorganisation follows the opening of Yamaha Motor Europe’s new motorsport research and development centre, purpose-built at the Yamaha Campus in Gerno di Lesmo, Italy. Development for the MXGP championship will be centralised at this facility, mirroring the development model used for the company’s Road Racing and Rally Raid activities. With the new structure, Yamaha Motor Europe will bring the management of the Yamaha Factory Racing MXGP team in-house, taking direct responsibility for its day-to-day management and the overall technical development of the MXGP programme. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy aimed at concentrating resources to return Yamaha to the top step of the podium in the premier MXGP class. In support of this objective, Yamaha Motor Europe will, with immediate effect, end its official involvement in MX2. Further details regarding the new structure of the Yamaha Factory Racing MXGP team, including the management and full rider line-up, will be announced in due course.
