Kawasaki backs Francisco Garcia for the 2027 MX2 season.
The Official MX2 project, launched almost two years ago by Kawasaki Motors, Ltd., has already enjoyed considerable success thanks to the partnership between the Kawasaki Racing Team and Valin. The young Frenchman, who won the EMX250 title in 2024 in his first year with Kawasaki, has demonstrated the competitiveness of the KX250 by winning the recent German round of the World Championship, in his second season in this category. Next season, the Kawasaki Racing Team MX2 will expand and field two riders in the MX2 World Championship. It was clear to everyone that Garcia was the perfect choice as Valin’s team-mate. Francisco, who joined the Team Green family last year, has admirably demonstrated his potential in the European series with Team Bud Racing, which recently celebrated twenty years of partnership with Kawasaki. Francisco has already won five of this season’s first eight races and holds a considerable lead in the championship standings. At just eighteen years of age, he also made an excellent debut in the MX2 World Championship as a wild card at the French Grand Prix, finishing in the top ten. With the European Championship taking a break in July, he will have the opportunity to gain even more experience by competing in several outdoor races in the United States with Team Bud Racing. Here are the rider’s comments.
“It’s definitely a dream come true to move up to the World Championship with the Kawasaki Racing Team; I’m absolutely delighted to have this opportunity. Obviously, I’m very motivated for the coming season, just as I’ve been this year. I know the factory bike has huge potential, as Mathis has already demonstrated. I’m delighted to be joining him, as we often train together with our coach Thierry Van Den Bosch. Naturally, the main goal at the moment is to win the European title to round off this chapter of my career with Bud Racing on a high note before moving to KRT.”
