The Triumph TF 250-X, winner of numerous championships, has been further developed for 2027 with race-proven updates.
Following a triumphant season that saw Guillem Farrés clinch the world title, Camden McLellan finish second in the series and Triumph Factory Racing win the FIM MX2 Manufacturers’ World Championship, the new TF 250-X benefits directly from ongoing development at the highest levels of competition.
For 2027, a revised engine calibration improves throttle response, rideability and torque delivery, whilst a new separate Start/Stop switch further optimises the rider’s controls. With a power output of 48 CV at 13,500 rpm, this engine remains the most powerful in the 250cc class and offers a class-leading power-to-weight ratio thanks to its ultra-compact, mass-optimised design and high-quality lightweight components. The low-inertia engine architecture ensures rapid throttle response, quick acceleration and precise power delivery over jumps, ruts and rhythm sections. Performance and efficiency are maximised through the use of a forged aluminium piston, titanium valves and low-friction DLC coatings, whilst lightweight magnesium cylinder heads reduce mass. An Exedy Belleville clutch improves durability and responsiveness in race conditions. The advanced engine management system combines an Athena ECU with GET Power Assist and a 44 mm Dell’Orto throttle body to optimise power delivery, ensuring maximum efficiency and control in every gear and under all conditions. A Keihin fuel injector offers superior atomisation and precise response at all throttle openings, whilst the high-flow intake system is designed to maximise air intake. The high-flow airbox is accessible without tools and fitted with a Twin Air filter, ensuring maximum airflow and protection in the most demanding motocross conditions, whilst allowing for quick maintenance between heats. The TF 250-X engine is entirely machined in-house, including the contact surface, combustion chamber, ducts, seats and guides, ensuring optimised duct geometry and efficient airflow. The coolant circuit, refined using CFD, helps maintain stable temperatures during long sessions, whilst the compact cylinder head design facilitates maintenance and allows for quick servicing between sessions.
For 2027, the TF 250-X benefits from the latest KYB suspension specifications, with revised front and rear settings that improve balance, damping control and rider feedback. The new tool-free suspension adjusters allow for quick set-up changes on the track to adapt to changing conditions. The high-end KYB suspension package combines 48 mm AOS coil-over forks with a three-position adjustable piggyback rear shock to deliver professional-level control. The race-developed set-up is designed to provide exceptional stability, responsiveness and confidence over jumps, whoops and rhythm sections, whilst maintaining a predictable front-end feel, stable traction and controlled landings. The air-oil separation system helps maintain consistent damping performance even under repeated high-load impacts, whilst precise valve tuning and the 50 mm piston rear shock absorber contribute to a predictable front-end feel, stable traction and controlled landings. The updated settings for the MY27 model further improve balance, damping control and rider feedback, delivering the support, traction and predictability needed to push harder, lap after lap.
For 2027, the TF 250-X benefits from new precision-machined Neken steering plates and a revised chain guide. Made from forged and machined 7075-T6 aluminium, the new plates are calibrated to provide the ideal stiffness for more precise steering, improved front-end feel and smoother handling on technical terrain, ensuring greater precision, confidence and responsiveness. At the heart of the chassis is Triumph’s ultra-lightweight aluminium centre-beam frame with a double cradle design, engineered to balance flexibility, stability and rider feedback. Internal machining and mass-optimised construction reduce weight without compromising strength or durability, whilst the compact, centralised mass configuration enhances agility.
