Yamaha launches the all-new quarter-litre model; among the most significant updates are the completely redesigned chassis and engine.

Yamaha presents the New 2027 YZF250

New features:

A completely new engine has been designed for high-rev performance, offering linear response with increased power and torque across the entire rev range, raising the redline by 700 rpm compared to the previous model. This has been achieved through the adoption of a finger-type rocker arm system derived from the Yamaha YZF-R1 and refinements to the intake system that allow for greater airflow and higher revs. Despite the increase in power, modifications to the air filter and exhaust system help ensure the 2027 YZ250F complies with noise regulations, meeting FIM/AMA standards with an optimised exhaust note that is more pleasant and comfortable for the rider. For power transmission to the rear wheel, an all-new hydraulic clutch replaces the previous model’s coil springs with a new disc spring and integrates the primary gear and cage into a single steel unit. The result is a more compact, lightweight and durable assembly that offers smoother, more consistent engagement, requiring less effort and eliminating the need for track adjustments. The 2027 YZ250F adopts the same advanced aluminium twin-beam frame as the YZ450F, offering an unrivalled balance between rigidity and flexibility. The new internal and external structure, including a slimmer front down tube, ensures greater stability, improved cornering performance and a precise, confident front-end feel. The new engine mounts have been designed to optimise rigidity, improving comfort and stability on the straights, with a more manageable character and predictable response. These chassis updates, working in combination, result in greater rideability in every situation, from slow, tight corners to fast, sweeping bends, right through to corner entry and exit on rough and uneven terrain, delivering a bike that is easier to lean, easier to choose and maintain a line, with a superior level of overall handling. A new high-performance KYB® rear shock absorber and a fork with revised tuning specific to the YZ250F complete the new chassis. The suspension combination offers greater damping force with less reaction to bumps and reduced pitching. The updated shock absorber also features a new manually adjustable low-speed compression adjuster to simplify track-side adjustments. The rear braking system has been completely redesigned, resulting in a compact and lightweight design that offers improved control with progressive braking power delivery. The rear brake caliper piston, brake master cylinder piston and rear brake disc have all been downsized, with further modifications to the brake hose material and rotor bolts to reduce unsprung mass. Despite the reduced size and weight, the braking system retains progressive and powerful braking characteristics. Furthermore, the rear brake pedal tip now also uses bolt fasteners instead of rivets to simplify maintenance.
